GIVEAWAY & REVIEW: Blossom By Royce Lingerie Nursing/Maternity Bra (CD 31/05/2013)

I was recently contacted by Royce Lingerie about their brand new nursing bra - Blossom.

0081 GIVEAWAY & REVIEW: Blossom By Royce Lingerie Nursing/Maternity Bra (CD 31/05/2013)

Dexter is combination fed (admittedly less and less as we approach the year one mark). As Dexter was born early via emergency c-section, and my milk hadn’t fully come through, we had to supplement him with formula from the start. Couple this with his hospitalisation due to Strep B at 6 weeks - and breastfeeding got off to a very bumpy start that never really ironed itself out.

For baby 2, I hope to sustain him or her for the first year on breast milk. I’m not ashamed to admit this is primarily due to cost, and the sense of achievement of keeping baby nourished by myself - only a hermit crab could be forgiven for not knowing the health benefits, but this isn’t my primary motivation… Cue horrified grimaces. - I just believe in pro-choice.

Whatever my motivations - I couldn’t wait to try Royce’s Blossom bra and put it through its paces. As a mammoth 36GG - I have a large chest and have found that nursing / maternity bras do not usually offer me any support. Day to day I tend to wear underwired balcony style bras (and admittedly fall out of them every two minutes) so to find a bra that can ‘contain me’, without sending my prized possessions down to my knees, will be a tough ask!

Well here we go - I’m braving posing half-naked in front of the camera to show you this bra fits us big girls. PLEASE thank me and tell me I don’t look like death or I’m apt to cry all week.

So what works about this bra?

  • It’s incredibly soft. The last thing you want is something itching (and inadvertently stimulating you) when you’re ‘producing’
  • You can gather it to make into a bra shape, or wear it like a cami top - the ties are more than capable of taking the strain
  • It’s actually attractive - not like what you’d imagine your Nan to wear
  • I haven’t ‘popped out’ once

There aren’t really any negatives. Yes you expect a bit of ‘sinkage’ if you’re big chested and this does show under clothes as you’d expect. But there’s no third boob going on; There’s no wire, and the cup size is generous (meaning you’re not always oinking it up under your clothes). It’s also perfectly safe to wear at night and will take a breastpad which is comforting when you’re scared of leaking.

Okay. She wins!

It has four tightness adjustments which can be adjusted as your body changes during and after pregnancy. The clasp for nursing is also very quick and can be achieved one-handed (with a bit of practice). Available in sizes 32-40 C/D/DD, E/F/FF and G/GG/H, I’m seriously impressed. It’s not often nursing bras will cater for us big girls so I’m pleased to report that it is a success.

At just £30 it’s available to purchase from Royce Lingerie.

Want one? Well today is your lucky day! They’ve given me one to give away to a reader so get entering via the Rafflecopter below (forgive my blatant begging - you’ll see what I mean). If you don’t feel like entering right now, I’d recommend liking on Facebook and following on Twitter to hear the latest news from Royce! Good luck guys!

The Plan for 2013 - Baby 2 and Watching People in Leotards!

Posted on

So we’re two days into 2013 and Dexter has survived his first year-end with us as his mummy and daddy. The year passed pretty uneventfully to be honest as I fell asleep on the sofa at 11.30pm whilst Craig watched Channel 4′s House Party with a cheeky beer.

2013 is set to be a big one as I’ve decided to take on the mammoth challenge of losing weight and having a baby before the year is through. The first resolution is already well underway as the fridge is full of vegetables and fresh fruit and there’s a decided lack of carbs to snack on. I seem to be in the fridge every two minutes frantically searching for a bit of cheese or chocolate but it simply isn’t there to graze on.

Exercise will have to be light as we have no way of telling when I’ll fall pregnant (I’m pretty sure the midwife would get a bit moody with me if I start an Olympic programme in the first trimester!). There’s a new DVD out that I’m already eyeing up so I can at least pretend to exercise - What to Expect When You’re Expecting (The Workout) - the aim is to watch at least an hour of people in leotards everyday - hopefully I’ll be inspired to join in.

I’m sure joining the two-under-two club will also not be everyone’s cup of tea. I’m under no illusion that I’m letting myself in for a tough few years. However, it’s well thought through and Craig and I are 100% sure we’re doing the right thing for us. We always wanted for Dexter to have a sibling and it’s important to us that they’re close in age. Dexter is a really loving baby and is used well used to chaos and loud noises with all his toddler cousins - we already know he’ll make an excellent big brother and the two will become best buddies.

If I’m honest, I also really hate being pregnant and want to reclaim my body next year (2014). Having suffered with PND with Dex - many will think we’re idiots to add another little person to the mix - but I have always been a bit of a ‘all or nothing’ girl and I promise to take a big break before number 3 to focus on me. The thought of working hard to control my weight, then getting pregnant fills me with dread! I’d much rather eat healthily so I don’t gain too much this time around, then dedicate a few years to getting back in shape. By 2015 I’ll be super mum to two beautiful children and will be back to Kardashian size (I wish!).

Wish me luck guys! I wish you all every success with your own plans for 2013 x
