I honestly don’t know one parent who has tried WaterWipes baby wipes that wouldn’t recommend them wholeheartedly - I don’t think I’ve managed to shut up talking about them either. Made from 100% natural products (99.9% purified water, and 0.01% grapefruit seed extract) they are suitable from birth, and the only baby wipes I use on littlest Mills.

I first stumbled across them at a 2012 Earl’s Court Baby Show where I managed to get my mitts on a sample (I named them best Eco / Green Product on a show round-up post). Before trying them out for size we just used whichever brand was on special offer at Tescos (I think I’ve used every single one on the market now) and I had gripes with all of them. They’re either too thin and tiny and can’t be doubled up, or dry out ridiculously quickly. WaterWipes win hands down for being supremely soft on Dexie’s delicate bits, constantly moist, and amazingly tough.

Since using them, Dexter hasn’t had a single case of nappy rash and pots of Sudocrem are now languishing at the bottom of his toiletries drawer (yes, he has a whole drawer!) as they’re not needed. He even lets me use them on his face to wipe away bits of dinner that didn’t quite make it into his tummy. He bats me away with other brands as they are too perfumed and rough on his face.

Better still, as they are safe to use on newborn babies, they’re ideal for packing in hospital bags. Given my own bag was crammed with outfits for Dexter, make-up and birthing clothes for me (how naive was I!) and other bits and pieces that never got used, had I have known about WaterWipes back then I’d have definitely ditched the top and tail bowl. Ten times easier and more convenient than cotton walls and water, they’re far more effective at gently cleaning newborn’s soft but stubborn bums. In this heat, they are also safe to use on miniature arms and legs to cool your newborn down.

Well WaterWipes have very generously offered an entire month’s worth of WaterWipes (that’s 4x 60 wipes) as a prize for one of you. Entry is via Rafflecopter so good luck!

Keep an eye out for a review and giveaway of WaterWipes facial wipes next week!

GIVEAWAY & REVIEW: Blossom By Royce Lingerie Nursing/Maternity Bra (CD 31/05/2013)

I was recently contacted by Royce Lingerie about their brand new nursing bra - Blossom.

0081 GIVEAWAY & REVIEW: Blossom By Royce Lingerie Nursing/Maternity Bra (CD 31/05/2013)

Dexter is combination fed (admittedly less and less as we approach the year one mark). As Dexter was born early via emergency c-section, and my milk hadn’t fully come through, we had to supplement him with formula from the start. Couple this with his hospitalisation due to Strep B at 6 weeks - and breastfeeding got off to a very bumpy start that never really ironed itself out.

For baby 2, I hope to sustain him or her for the first year on breast milk. I’m not ashamed to admit this is primarily due to cost, and the sense of achievement of keeping baby nourished by myself - only a hermit crab could be forgiven for not knowing the health benefits, but this isn’t my primary motivation… Cue horrified grimaces. - I just believe in pro-choice.

Whatever my motivations - I couldn’t wait to try Royce’s Blossom bra and put it through its paces. As a mammoth 36GG - I have a large chest and have found that nursing / maternity bras do not usually offer me any support. Day to day I tend to wear underwired balcony style bras (and admittedly fall out of them every two minutes) so to find a bra that can ‘contain me’, without sending my prized possessions down to my knees, will be a tough ask!

Well here we go - I’m braving posing half-naked in front of the camera to show you this bra fits us big girls. PLEASE thank me and tell me I don’t look like death or I’m apt to cry all week.

So what works about this bra?

  • It’s incredibly soft. The last thing you want is something itching (and inadvertently stimulating you) when you’re ‘producing’
  • You can gather it to make into a bra shape, or wear it like a cami top - the ties are more than capable of taking the strain
  • It’s actually attractive - not like what you’d imagine your Nan to wear
  • I haven’t ‘popped out’ once

There aren’t really any negatives. Yes you expect a bit of ‘sinkage’ if you’re big chested and this does show under clothes as you’d expect. But there’s no third boob going on; There’s no wire, and the cup size is generous (meaning you’re not always oinking it up under your clothes). It’s also perfectly safe to wear at night and will take a breastpad which is comforting when you’re scared of leaking.

Okay. She wins!

It has four tightness adjustments which can be adjusted as your body changes during and after pregnancy. The clasp for nursing is also very quick and can be achieved one-handed (with a bit of practice). Available in sizes 32-40 C/D/DD, E/F/FF and G/GG/H, I’m seriously impressed. It’s not often nursing bras will cater for us big girls so I’m pleased to report that it is a success.

At just £30 it’s available to purchase from Royce Lingerie.

Want one? Well today is your lucky day! They’ve given me one to give away to a reader so get entering via the Rafflecopter below (forgive my blatant begging - you’ll see what I mean). If you don’t feel like entering right now, I’d recommend liking on Facebook and following on Twitter to hear the latest news from Royce! Good luck guys!

PS - Thanks to the milkman for taking the shots!
