The benefits of sunrise clocks

sleepinghabits

I’m a terrible sleeper. A podcast addiction, fiancé (who, sadly snores like Darth Vader reincarnated) and children who we lovingly refer to as sleep ninjas, are all contributing factors to my lack of sleep. Heidi will, most of the time fall asleep in her own bed, yet join us at 2am. I’ve no idea why she creeps in so stealthily as she’ll happily kick us both all through the night. As a result, I’ve trialled a number of sleep aids; from pills, to sleep trackers, to pillow sprays, but nothing works better than my Lumie body clock.

If you have a hard time going to, staying asleep, waking up in the morning, or a combination of these things, a sunrise clock might also be of value to you. It will not only help you better position yourself to sleep at night, but to fall asleep a bit easier, and to actually stay asleep through the evening hours as well.

Sunrise clocks mimic daylight and dark. You can set timers, you can change mood lighting, you can create a lighter or darker atmosphere. These are all ways in which your body is going to acclimate to the night (dark), versus daylight (sun) hours. Over time, this helps your body relax, and regulate itself, so it knows when to sleep and when to wake up.

Using sunrise clocks you can also implement alarms and other signals to help you wake up easily. The sunrise clock is going to mimic actual sunrise; this means it will slowly and naturally wake your body up, unlike traditional alarms which take you out of a stage of deep sleep unnaturally. Sunrise clocks help your body naturally acclimate to times, and it will learn internal body clock settings, so you better regulate your sleep patterns.

A sunrise clock has many different settings. You can add sounds, you can add mood or ambient lighting to create a calming and tranquil environment. These things are going to help you lay down easily, and calm your body in preparation for sleep. Your body is going to learn over time and will learn the proper sleeping patterns it should be falling into. This will help you relax when you should be sleeping, and eventually create a proper sleeping balance at night, so that you are not up at crazy hours, and you aren’t tired during the middle of the afternoon.

Many people have troubles sleeping. Some falling asleep, others waking up, and some can’t stay asleep at all. No matter what issues you have or sleeping patterns you want to correct, a sunrise clock is a great tool you should implement into your nightly bedtime routine. It is not only going to help you better understand your internal body clock, but over time, will also help your body to naturally regulate itself, so you will sleep easy, stay asleep, and will wake up feeling refreshed in the morning.

7 healthy habits to teach your kids

Being a proactive parent means helping your kids develop healthy habits. Whether your child’s a toddler or a teenager, you can help them have the best life possible by setting a good example.

Here are some tips to help your kids begin developing healthy habits today.

Healthy Food

Eating healthy is an easy habit to introduce to your child. By feeding healthy food, you can promote well-being and increase your child’s energy. But, remember to set a good role model for them. If they see you eating burger while they’re facing a plate of broccoli, you’re only going to make your kids angry.

Limit gadgets

If you’re unable to stop your kids from using gadgets entirely, try to limit the time or the duration they use them for. For example, allow just 20 minutes a day for watching their favourite cartoon as opposed to a few hours. You can also use their gadget time as their reward for doing chores or homework.

Remember to set good examples. If you can’t spend a few minutes without your phone, your kids will pick up your habits.

Quality time with the family

Spending time with the family is a great investment for your kids. It helps to create happy memories and teaches them that family is precious. Once your child gets home from Adelaide child care, make family time a priority.

Life values

Kids first learn values from their parents. They learn accountability, selflessness and responsibility. If you want your kids to grow up as a mature and responsible person, be the person you want your kids to be.

Saying no

Other people regret not being able to say no, even when they know they won’t be able to fulfil what people want of them. So, most of us try to please everybody. Kids pick this up from their parents or are like this or set massive, unattainable expectations. Teach your child to say no, and they will always be grateful.

Be a good friend

This is one habit that is surely the key to a happy and successful life. Nobody feels like a failure when they have friends who can get them through life’s toughest times. So, teaching your kids how to make real friends and what it also means to be a good friend is a blessing. Start by being a good friend to your child and then encourage them to make genuine friends with other kids.

Honesty

It is so important to teach your child how to be true not only to themselves but also to their friends and, of course, you. Help your kids understand that lying never works and that lies are always discovered. To be satisfied and happy, teach your kids to be true to themselves and what they really believe in.

Teach your kids these habits and you’re sure to enjoy watching them grow up to be wonderful adults.

Insurance isn’t everything: Your financial options when medical bills pile up

Illness and pain come at a physical and financial cost. Without adequate health insurance, the pain and suffering intensify. I know I’ve been stuck with a number of unexpected bills when I’ve been hospitalised, and recuperating seems so much harder with the added burden of medical expenses.

But, insurance isn’t everything. You do have financial options when your medical bills pile up.

Become your own advocate

You should not ignore your bills, but you don’t have to pay as billed. Medical billers do make mistakes.

Even with insurance, you have deductibles, copays, and network issues, so you must have a grasp of your insurance policy. You should keep receipts of service, payments, and communication with the medical practice and insurance company.

The BBC reports, “More than 80% of medical bills in the US contain errors, according to the Medical Billing Advocates of America.” So, if the billing is not in error, you can call the medical provider to discuss and negotiate your options. The practitioner really doesn’t want to take you into collections or see you walk away from the bill.

Don’t pay the bill

Large providers like hospital chains take a little time in their back and forth with insurance companies. But, having said that, the situation does not get better if you ignore or walk away from the bill.

But, you do so at serious risk to your credit record. Once things are put in the hands of a third-party collection agency, they can become uncivil and aggressive. And, that may be a precursor to litigation.

Declare bankruptcy

Bankruptcy is not an option. Little good comes from declaring bankruptcy. But, some people are hit with huge bills from long hospital stays and surgery.

Bankruptcy may reduce your obligation to the medical providers, but it won’t make it disappear. So, only if your bill is so large it turns your finances upside down, you should seek protection under bankruptcy laws.

Borrow from family and friends

Making personal loans can work if the amount is reasonable.

Consumer Reports points out, “a family loan can incite a family feud if expectations aren’t set out clearly—and subsequently met.” If the problem is under $100, you can usually pull that together. But, experience will tell you that owing family and friends is uncomfortable and puts your relationships at risk.

Take out a short-term loan

At an authorised FCA direct lender like MoneyBoat UK at this link. you can borrow money to get you through your medical bill crisis.

If you’re a returning customer, you can borrow up to £1800 or £800 if you are a first-time borrower. You might secure a repayment schedule of ten days to six months.

Your application is subject to a credit and affordability check. They consider your current financial situation as well as your repayment history.

The terms of the payday loan are clarified, fees described, and payment schedule laid out. But, you can even pay it off early with no charges or fees.

Insurance isn’t everything

Things are not desperate. You do have financial options when medical bills pile up, but the simplest and most prudent move may be making a short-term loan you can afford to repay.
