Funky Giraffe Bibs Review

Bibs are an essential baby accessory that often cause more frustration than is necessary. Whether it’s itchy velcro fastenings, troublesome stains, or just that you never seem to be able to find a clean one when you need it - you’ll find yourself moaning about them at least 5 times a day during the early stages of parenthood.

The trick is to find a brand that fit well, are comfortable for baby and available in tons of different colours to suit every dinky outfit and sleepsuit you bought. Once you find a bib that does the trick, buy tons of them. I’m talking 15-20. You’ll be amazed how many you’ll end up washing in a week, and how quickly they mysteriously disappear down the sides of your sofa or into the depths of your changebag.

This is the beauty of Funky Giraffe Bibs. The more you buy, the more you save. For example, if you consider that a bib is priced at £4 individually, if you buy 10 the price comes down to just £2 per bib - that’s a HUGE 50% saving! Better still, you get free UK delivery if you spend £7. 10 bibs will therefore set you back just £20 delivered. That’s the cheapest deal I’ve come across online. You’re literally spoilt for choice too with hundreds of designs and colourways (including seasonal limited editions).

FG Bibs

Dexter did have a few bandana bibs when he was younger (Funky Giraffe Bibs as it happens), but he wasn’t a particularly dribbly baby and was out of cloth bibs and into plastic ones as soon as we started weaning him. Heidi, on the other hand started teething at 6 weeks and is constantly sporting a chin full of baby drool. She’s also developed an annoying habit of falling asleep mid-bottle so a pool of milk will collect in the creases of her neck saturating her clothes.

Funky Giraffe bibs are therefore great for my little madam. They’re adjustable with cleverly designed popper fastenings that allow you to achieve a really snug fit under the chin to catch all the drool. Made from 100% cotton, they are also supremely soft and wash like a dream (even at high temperatures). A fleecy lining also provides great wetness protection so baby’s skin and clothes stay dry. They really are fabulous quality.

I’d wholeheartedly recommend Funky Giraffe Bibs and it seems I’m not alone as they have some seriously impressive feedback collected from thousands of customers. If you’d like to buy some yourself and check out the other things they sell (including adorable socks and hats) then head to the new look website at funkygiraffebibs.co.uk or say hello on Twitter and Facebook.

Countdown to The Baby Show (February 21-23 at London ExCel) and a Chance to Win Tickets!

Baby-Show-Excel-2014

Well if you didn’t know it already, I’m The Baby Show Blogger for 2014′s ExCel leg in February (21-23). I’ve been busy sharing my pregnancy journey on their blog and am hugely excited about the upcoming show.

We’ve been Baby Show regulars for the past few years now. I love seeing new products and brands before anyone else, and get enough of the special show prices. The facilities are always so amazing - Tommee Tippee never fail to create the perfect breastfeeding area away from the melee of the main exhibition, and who better than Fisher Price to kit out and sponsor the crèche area??? The result is a buzzing shopping environment that caters for busy mums and dads, whilst still providing everything you need to help deal with toddler meltdowns and newborn accidents. The changing area is always clean and tidy with staff on hand to dish out the nappies and wipes, and there’s always plenty of places to sit down, rest and take stock.

The Baby Show1

This year, I’ve got an extra special reason for attending. Aside from our blog partnership, we have a little girl growing all-too-quickly inside of me, and we’re incredibly unprepared! There are soooo many things we need, that I simply can not wait to hit the stalls!

Here are the brands I can’t wait to take a closer look at:

BabaBing!

I’m really looking forward to getting up close and personal with the sleek and minimalist LoBo Plum Bouncer and weighing up how the Noah highchair compares to the Stokke Tripp Trapp. I love the look and design of these products and am really excited at the prospect of having a good old play.

Bebecar

For traditional prams Bebecar are the Rolls Royce of baby wheels. I can’t get enough of their vintage style and simply need to test drive one!

As I’ve been helpfully informed that I’ll need a twin pushchair for my two babies (I have my Facebook readers to thank for this - it seems I had my head in the clouds and was over-estimating Dexter’s walking abilities). So I’ve been eying up the Peach Blossom 2 (in stylish and gender neutral Silver Mint) for awhile now. It’s the only twin I’ve seen that looks compact enough that I won’t be barging the elderly off the path and into oncoming traffic!

Masiel Bebe

Ooooh these dresses are too pretty for words. They’re exactly the traditional / nautical / Spanish twist I want to dress Mini Madam in. I’m seriously looking forward to going all gooey-eyed at them

Nappy Cakes by Betty

A humble little nappy cake business that deserves to be far bigger. Betty so lovingly makes these impressive nappy cakes and they look to be something incredibly special. She thinks of EVERYTHING - from an exhaustive list of ‘ingredients’ to leaflets on Strep B (an illness that I have firsthand experience of through Dexter). Can’t wait to see these pieces of art for myself!

Oyster Baby Slings - Slumber-Roo

Oooohhh let me at them!!! So gorgeous, so simple, and exactly the way I’m hoping to carry my little madam when she arrives in April.

Of course, I’m also looking forward to seeing my friends BRITAX (and BOB), and Tommee Tippee, Cuddledry, Funky Giraffe Bibs and Pumpkin Patch. These are the brands I trust the most and never fail to disappoint me. This year (aside from those mentioned above) Chicco and Cheeky Rascals are also key sponsors so expect generously proportioned stalls for these guys and an abundance of products to browse, staff to advice you, and fabulous offers especially for the show.

The Worst Kept Secret in Baby Land - Funky Giraffe Bibs

Posted on

funkygiraffelogo

Ask any mum what her top ten must-have newborn baby products are and she’ll joke about the need for an unlimited stash of muslins, bibs and baby grows. Babies throw up, fact. And when they’re not throwing up, they’re dribbling. No sooner have you dressed up your new baby into that perfect outfit, than it’s covered in foul-smelling milk. Although pretty dresses, tiny trainers and dinky jeans look irresistible, they’re woefully impractical. Rather the best baby shower present for an expectant mum is her body weight in bibs.

As I’m now expecting baby two, I’m always on the hunt for great deals on the essentials. Unfortunately, most shops sell bibs in packs of three which simply isn’t enough - three will probably last you a day if you’re lucky! But this is where Funky Giraffe come in. They’re have some of the cheapest bandana bibs you’ll find online, and some really fabulous designs to choose from. Better yet, the more you buy, the less they cost per unit - for example, 10 bibs will only set you back £20.50.

I always knew the prices were unbeatable. But I hadn’t had the opportunity to check them out in person until The Baby Show this weekend. They kindly gave us some to take home and road test, and I have to say I’m hooked. They’re supremely soft, very secure with two poppers, and rest gently under baby’s chin making them incredibly comfortable.

Dexter has spent all morning in his and the fit is perfect. He’ll usually rip them off in seconds and dip them in his dinner, but the Funky Giraffe bibs have two poppers making them much tougher for little people to meddle with. There’s also plenty of room on the loosest setting so I’ll know they’ll last him a good few years yet. Finally, the seams around the neck are very soft and he seemed to forget he was even wearing one!

We also got the chance to try one of their new baby tee’s. I love the bright vibrant colours and the material is great quality. Once again, the more you buy, the more you save, and you can snap these up for as low as £6.50 each. As Funky Giraffe are more than happy to mix and match designs, it’s a great way of refreshing your child’s autumn wardrobe for next to nothing.

funkygiraffetee

The same deals are available for baby socks, moccasins, burp clothes, and other baby clothes, all of which are made from the same quality ethically sourced materials. The range is continually growing too so there’s no shortage of choice. It really is the place to go if you are a mum-to-be, a grandmum-to-be or you’re off to a baby shower - and they get a massive thumbs up from me.

If you’d like to say hello to Funky Giraffe, or even propose some new designs (they love our suggestions) then pop on over to Twitter or Facebook > You’ll be a welcome distraction as I bet they spend all day reassuring us all that their prices really are that good!

Disclaimer: Funky Giraffe Bibs kindly gave Dex the above items to try out (as well as a few others). I wasn’t asked to provide a post but was so impressed, I simply had to.
