Gorgeous Tutus from Angel’s Face

I hadn’t thought Heidi would be so girly, but she’ll sprint to anything pink on her little knees and elbows, then flutter those huge eyelashes at us when we clap her progress. She’s every inch the little princess.

So when this cream tutu arrived in a simply lovely presentation box from Angel’s Face, I knew it would suit Heidi down to the ground. A perfect gift for special girls, it arrived impeccably wrapped in pristine grey and white tissue paper with an accompanying brochure crammed full of beautifully shot flyers and next year’s catalogue. When you strip the paper off, you’re left with a vintage style hate box that will house your tutu to keep it in perfect condition. Lifting off the lid, the sumptuous layers spill out like candyfloss! It’s a seriously impressive array of packaging!

So who are Angel’s Face?

Angel’s Face was created by mother of three, Keely Deininger, in 2007 as a kitchen table business. Throughout her life, Keely has always displayed a flair for creativity, designing her own clothing from the age of 8. After a busy career in fashion design, when her third child was born, she left her corporate career behind her in order to pursue a lifelong dream of owning her own business.

The key product from Angel’s Face is the pettiskirt, a wonderfully full ruffle tutu skirt available in a multitude of colours; from vibrant pinks, to dove greys, from ruby reds to dusky emeralds.

Angel's Face

Having now expanded the collection to include tutu dresses, ruffle tops and coordinating cardies, Angel’s Face has evolved from the kitchen table to a brand selling worldwide, which is carried in the finest department stores such as Selfridges, John Lewis and House of Fraser.

And what does Heidi think?

It’s a hit. She’s worn her ivory tutu both on its own, and with pops of colour and she looks totally adorable in it. It’s so soft, she can’t help but sink her tiny fingers into all the frills; there’s no coarse cheap lace that might chaff or irritate baby, it’s made from 100% pure nylon which feels like silk against her baby soft skin.

The baby version (as modeled by Heidi) has an elasticated waistband to accommodate growth up to 1 year. Heidi is now 8 months and this fits her perfectly with plenty of room to spare, although I’m certain it would have fit her from 3 months onwards. There’s a large silky bow at the front too although this is just for show and doesn’t serve to tighten the skirt.

Tutu Heidi

Heidi’s tutu has taken on even more special meaning as, during our photo-shoot, she let go of the sofa for the very first time and managed to stand on her own for a whole minute! I’m so proud of her - at just shy of 8 months we’re now convinced she’ll be walking by the New Year.

Speaking of photography, this is the ultimate photo prop for babies and girls up to their teens. Whether you’re taking your baby to a studio, or just want some gorgeous photos of your little madam on a nature walk, the silky ruffles look positively amazing and there’s plenty of movement too!

The pettiskirts are perfect for aspiring ballerinas or Frozen fans, for christenings, wedding or birthday girls. When babies are bundled up in your arms, it cascades beautifully and hides away frilly knickers or nappies - and also looks pretty bobbing away from you across the living room carpet. When baby finally grows out of it, you can tuck it away in her memory box to pass down to her own little girl (if she’s lucky enough to have one) in some 20 years time - if you’re reading this some years in the future Heidi - At least 20 years please!

Surprisingly it’s machine washable but I’m not sure I’d go down this route, gentle hand-washing seems the safest option to ensure it continues to look as beautiful as it does when you first open that box.

Heidi’s tutu is £35.00 which is a fraction over their biggest rivals Miss Francis. For older girls, prices go up to £60.00 for their most expensive nylon and lace mix. It is an investment, but a worthwhile one for all those photographs and special occasions. If it hadn’t been so soft I’d have balked a little at the price, but the quality is just amazing and I can’t see how anyone could possibly be disappointed. Oh, and there’s also free delivery for orders over £30, with a free keepsake angels wings bracelet if you spend over £40.

Miss Francis Tutu Baby Pettiskirt Review

Posted on

When I first found out I was growing a little girl in my tummy a year ago, I went on a pink offensive. No way was my little girl going to be swamped in baby pink, donning headbands or having her ears pierced. Nope. I was all for dresses, but just couldn’t stand the ice cream sundae, cuter than cute, frills and bows look.

It took all of four days for me to change my mind (not regarding the piercings, this will NEVER happen) and Heidi was in pink as soon as the “welcome to the world” gifts poured through the letterbox). She was just such a lady! The moment the doctors delivered her into my hands, she fluttered those eyelashes and we knew that she’d live up to her pre-birth moniker, Mini Madam.

As fast as pink made an appearance in her drawers, it crept up into her bedding, and then Dexter’s hand-me-down toys didn’t seem quite, well, pink enough. She’s even worn the odd headband and pair of ballet shoes! My whole attitude changed, and I started to really embrace the fact I had a little girl in a house formerly full of boys.

So when Miss Francis offered to send me a tutu skirt - I smiled to myself. Yes I totally would like to review one! As completely over-the-top and princess-like as they are, I couldn’t wait to pop Heidi in one of these to-die-for little numbers!

Here at Miss Francis we are dedicated to making clothes for girls to look lovely and feel good in . Our pettiskirts are perfect for parties, playing, dancing or dressing up, they are ideal for all occasions… Pettiskirts also known as tutus, come in an array of colours and styles. Whether you like pretty pastels, vibrant brights, classic shades or sequins and sparkles there is a tutu for all tastes.

I picked the Ivory one as I imagined I could dress it up with pops of colours elsewhere. It arrived in a beautiful presentation box, so would be perfect for gifting to someone. As soon as I sunk my fingers into all those pretty soft frills and ruffles I was hooked. That’s the most surprising thing of all; just how soft this is. There’s no coarse cheap lacey bits that might chaff or irritate baby, it’s 100% Nylon Chiffon which feel like layers of silk against their delicate skin.

There’s a coordinating silk band gathering all the ruffles which comes together in a bow at the front. This waistband is elasticated to accommodate growth up to 1 year (of course there’s plenty more for older girls of 1-12 years to choose from too). Heidi is 6 months and fits this perfectly - there’s still plenty of room, but the skirt won’t fall down.

I’m just in love with it. It looks adorable in photos, makes her even more irresistible to cuddle (as if that’s even possible) and we love watching her little bum bob up and down in it as she crawls across the carpet.

Unsurprisingly it’s hand wash only in warm water which will be a whole new experience for me - but I’ll have a go when it needs it given this is too special not to. It’s so fluffy and soft I’d hate to think I might ruin it. In fact, Heidi is going nowhere remotely grubby in it - it’s for home only.

Heidi’s tutu is £31.99 which seems fair. If it hadn’t been so soft I’d have balked a little at the price, but the quality is just superior to anything you’ll come across on the high-street. The fact it’ll last a year also means you’ll have something truly special to pluck out of the drawer for those special occasions. This tutu will eventually live in Heidi’s memory box for her to appreciate when she’s older - and maybe hand down to her own daughter (if she’s lucky enough to have one).
