When you’re having a baby, there are two big purchases you’ll most likely make before you meet baby for the first time - a travel system, and nursery furniture. We spent upwards of £1000 on these ‘essentials’ for Dexter. Our travel system was £500 (we thought we were so clever getting a good deal on this!) and we flexed the credit card in Mamas & Papas getting a budget cotbed, wardrobe and dresser for £700. Looking back now, we were (at best) a marketer’s dream, or perhaps more accurately, total prats.
Cotbeds are expensive. No two ways about it. But what if I was to tell you we’ve got a brand new mini cot for the new baby, and a great quality mattress for just £80?

We’ve picked the Stone Teal colour which is a lovely light grey colour. I’ve popped on Dexie’s blue bedding but it would look equally good with yellow or pale pink.
I give you the moKee Mini Cot!
When I was sent an introductory email about the moKee, I fell over myself to ask for sample. If the cot was as good in the flesh as it looked on the site, I promised I’d recommend to every pregnant woman I know. £80 is an amazing price for a newborn glider cot or a moses basket, let alone a good sized cot that grows with your child throughout their toddler years.

So how do they do it?
Well the concept is simple. They sell direct to the consumer so cut out wholesalers and retailers to offer you a cot at barely over cost price. Why? Because unless big nationwide deals are cut with Mothercare and the like, furniture makers struggle. By selling a great product at an affordable price, they win consumers over and grow organically by word of mouth. In an age where social media is all powerful and there’s such potential for long-term brand advocacy, and (let’s face it) times are hard - I hope to see more brands like moKee pass savings onto us. I’m so passionate about it I could rave on about it all day.
So what do you get?
Well firstly, you get a choice of fabulous colours to choose from - 5 colours I haven’t seen anywhere else. Everything is very Farrow & Ball and completely up my street. Whether you’re planning on a cute shabby chic nursery, or modern playroom with all the trimmings - the moKee colours will fit in perfectly. There’s a simple white, grey stone, ivory plum , stone teal, and stone blue option. They’re so different and unique I love all of them.

Not only this but you get all the regular features of a cotbed. The mattress height can be adjusted to fit two positions, it’s suitable from birth, and there’s a removable side to convert the cot onto a bed and extend it’s life to up to 3 years old. Add to this the fact it’s made of sustainable sourced and high quality Birch wood and you have an out and out winner in my eyes.

Finally, there’s free delivery to anywhere in Europe, a two year warranty and 30 day returns! Unbelievable.
As good in the flesh?
YES. I love my moKee cot. It was easy to put up (so much so that Craig couldn’t understand why I’d waited until the weekend to enlist him) and it looks stunning. As it currently lives in our bedroom, the smaller size works perfectly and the muted colours fit in with our decor. I must admit it’s very strange walking upstairs and seeing two cots in the house - it’s definitely bought home the fact there’s another mini person in my belly.
The mattress is also nice and plump at 9cm. It has a silky finish and the cover is easy to remove and is machine washable (for any little accidents!). An aloe-vera infusion also makes it naturally antibacterial and hypoallergenic too. Having popped a very sleepy Dexter in to take the above photos, I can testify he had a very comfy nap in it this afternoon.
I really am thrilled with my moKee and will be banging on about it for a long time to come. Well done moKee - seriously impressed.
DISCLAIMER - I was sent this product free of charge in return for an honest review. I’ve raved about it as it’s pretty hard not to! I simply cannot believe they are offering such a great product at such an affordable price.
