When someone special in your life is tying the knot, there are some options regarding how to show your joy for his/her new path and the next chapter in his/her life. The couple will undoubtedly be receiving the household products and heirlooms that there is no point in trying to parallel. Look for something that crosses your personality with theirs.

Bring in the star

Certainly if money is no concern, there is nothing like a tribute private concert in the comfort of your own home/palazzo wherever the reception will take place. Imagine the grounds of a chateau with a fountain centrally positioned, lit up at night with emboldened lights and the evening ending in fireworks: amongst this extravagant set-up that is undoubtedly pre-arranged with the bride and her team using a fancy time piece from somewhere like Watches of Switzerland to keep an eye on things. The couple’s favourite performer would magically appear and a collection from the favourite album. This would equate to an evening to be remembered with footage and images to last many generations.

A place in The Arts

For any art lover or future collector, the moment that is prized is when he/she tastes the love for a piece of art/sculpture or antiquity. The price may put most normal beings off but should you gather a couple of close friends together, this would be a chance to really stamp your mark and launch or continue this hobby that will delight him/her contributing also to a sound investment. There are trained advisors on hand through all the well-known auction houses if in doubt.

Cheers

Starting building up the wine cellar and/or whisky supply that would be ideal for both him and her. Learning about selective wines and liquor is part of becoming a connoisseur whilst being a person of the world with an international jet set group of friends, associates and family. Perhaps you could start off with a luxurious Champagne set that is lined in a red silk-lined box that includes two flutes and Louis Dornier. The glasses can be personalised with the date and names of the couple. The wine can be in the three traditional grapes: the Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay that offers a light intensity, full-bodied character and a rich palate.

All in the scent

Perfumes have existed since civilisation began using plant extracts, oils and other means. The couple will appreciate having this item that will symbolise this new epoch in their lives and you can choose from the following exclusive range such as the unisex Caron Poivre which is adorned with an exclusively limited Baccarat bottle of the most perfect crystal encrusted in a white gold collar and its aroma is both strong, elegant, enduring and poignant: a combination of the couple. The ingredients that make up this elixir of love are cloves, red and black pepper blended with other delicate spices for a pristine gift. Perfum

Fancy Winning a Beach or Snow Holiday with Cosmos Holidays? Stupid Question!

Given I’ll have all the dramas and stresses of a newborn this summer, we’re holding off on our holiday this year and will getaway during the Christmas period instead. It means delaying my dream holiday until 2015 as I’m thinking Lake Como will be a bit chilly in December! But it doesn’t stop me dreaming of those beautiful villages, the sun glistening off the lake and rubbing shoulders with the likes of Richard Branson. George Clooney and Madonna (they own luxury villas there, don’t you know!).

Despite the fact that I’ve only ever driven through it, and Craig has never been, Lake Como is one of the places I have earmarked for our wedding. Even from inside the cramped confines of a Vauxhall Vectra way back in 2008 I knew it was a special place. Surrounded by breathtaking mountains and peppered with tiny pretty villages that hug the shoreline it’s the perfect backdrop for our nuptials.

It’s also famed for its welcoming residents, dozens of charming piazzas and its late-night dining culture. It’s true to say that the simple pasta dishes we cook at home never taste as good as those prepared in Italy. Toss in child-friendly pizzas and some of the finest seafood and meat selection in the world and the Italians have unequivocal bragging rights over their food. Of course it’s also the birthplace of Prosecco and Limoncello but that has absolutely nothing to do with my love for the place, nothing at all… okay maybe just a smidgen.

Even more attractive is the short flight time to Milano Malpensa and the 30 minute drive to the lake. When you have little people coming with you, short travel times are never to be taken for granted. Once there, there are tons of short day-tips by ferry or the cute Trombetta Express to explore the lake, and you can even hop across to Switzerland in around 45 minutes if you’re feeling adventurous. girl_rose_petals

When it comes to weddings there are score of companies who specialise in wedding planning in and around the region, and my scrapbook is overflowing with pictures from magazines, websites and other people’s blogs. There’s an overwhelming choice of venues including lakeside villas, impressive grand hotels, and beach restaurants, and all boast stunning vistas that can’t help but upstage the bride. That’s perfectly fine with me as I’m no Angelina Jolie and no amount of hair and make-up will get me even remotely close when I become a mum of two in April.

Oooo enough from me - I’m probably making you all miserable as you’re sat at your desks drowning in work emails, that or you’re still feeling the pinch from Christmas and watching your own holiday aspirations sail away amidst a fog of food bills and water rate increases. You probably started reading this blog post in the first place to see how you could win a holiday, not read holiday pornography from me! Well it’s the Cosmos Holidays Facebook page* you’ll be wanting! Just hit like, take their easy quiz to find out if you have a ‘Snow or Go’ personality and you could win a ski holiday in Austria or a beach holiday in Sharm el Sheikh! Easy as that! Or, if I’ve whetted your appetite for Lake Como, Cosmos Holidays have some fabulous deals for there too. Good luck guys.

Nursery Art: Personalised Posters from Paper Themes

Posted on

Pinterest has a lot of answer for.

As soon as I found out I was having a little boy, like most mummys-to-be, I began to obsess about getting his room ready. For the next few months I grew an epic nursery mood board of several colourways, craft projects to make, things to buy… It seems I overlooked the fact that Dexter’s nursery is actually no bigger than an executive room available at Her Majesty’s Pleasure.

Since he’s been here, I’ve recreated just one project from Pinterest, and his room hasn’t seen one lick of paint. Despite this, I think we’ve done a pretty good job of kitting it out for a little boy. It’s an aquamarine colour with plenty of bunting, and all the obligatory little features that make visitors go “Awww…”. But I’m always on the hunt for new things to add. Nurseries should be chaotic with lots of textures, features and colours to make small spaces really engaging for inquisitive little minds.

So I was very pleased to get my hands on a beautiful personalised poster from Paper Themes to add to Dexter’s little collection.

I opted for the Patchwork Baby Boy Poster as I knew the colours would work well in Dexter’s room; lime green, greys and baby blue. The poster features his name, d.o.b, weight and time of birth and other baby-centric images. The quality is top-notch - nice and glossy on good quality poster paper.

It comes unframed, but the website states my poster will fit an 330 x 330 mm ‘standard’ frame (roughly 13″x13″). I must admit there was a distinct lack of choice on the high street but eventually I managed to pick up a bargain frame for under £2 at The Range. It would be great to see Paper Themes sell suitable frames on the website for ease of ordering. This would make things even easier if your poster is intended to be a gift.

It arrived super quick (just 2 days!) neatly rolled up in a poster tube. There was also a handwritten comp slip to thank me for my order which was a lovely welcome touch in this day and age.
.
At £25, this isn’t cheap, but it is a lovely gift for a new baby. It makes a great statement picture to kick off a gallery wall and would look really lovely surrounded by canvasses. There are also plenty of other themes to choose from - the wedding ones are particularly lovely. There’s also personalised greetings cards, wedding invitations and plenty of other wedding gifts and stationery available from the website. Follow them on Facebook and Twitter to find out more!
DISCLAIMER: I was sent a charming poster from Paper Themes for my sons nursery for the purposes of this review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
