Meet Peli.

He’s my latest weapon in my on-going war with clutter. He lives in my bathroom and gobbles up all the squirters, stacking cups, sprinklers and lord knows what other plastic toys my kiddies insist on bathing with.

I used to actually bathe with the kids. All three of us would splash about and soak daddy from his default position on the floor. Now, there’s little room for me when the two of them are hard at work trying to drown each other. With mountains of blue, pink, orange and green protruding from the bubbles I’m scared to climb in too lest I wind up with a toy submarine poking me where it’s not wanted.

When bath time is over, this menagerie of toys is ordinarily stacked up on all sides of the bath. We’d often hear a tumble in the middle of the night as though pixies and fairies had tiptoed into our bathroom to topple our haphazard toy towers. Our once serene white bath suite ended up looking messy and infantile, and cleaning the bathroom was an utter nightmare.

Thankfully Peli has swooped to my rescue and has assumed permanent residence at the side of my tub. He is attached via a secure clamp to the bath so there’s no slipping or movement marks to plastic or porcelain. His greedy beak is HUGE to accommodate larger toys, and his generous net secures all the children’s bath playthings with ease. As you’d expect, Peli is waterproof and his porous net can either rest within the bath, or on the outside, allowing toys to drip dry so they stay in tip top condition.

However, the best thing about him is the children don’t seem to realise he’s part of mummy’s army, and they love feeding him. This means, the days of Craig and I building precarious toy mountains are over as the children put their toys away themselves… Mwa haha! Moreover, when bath time is in progress, they take it in turn to shot hoops inside Peli’s mouth (a sort of bath basketball if you will) which creates hysterical laughter and allows them to play together as a team.

All in all, he’s sturdy, has a massive appetite, and is a very welcome addition to our little family. He has a few thousand brothers and sisters too, so if you fancy a Peli’s Play Pouch in your home, you can buy him at BabyThingz.com for £15.95.
