With Christmas down and New Year out of the way, the next shamelessly commercial date in your calendar is Valentine’s Day. This is the best day by far in my book. I don’t go in for tacky cards, balloons and buying for buying’s sake, but I do love a good date night. Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to call in a babysitter, head into town for a slap-up meal then get so drunk you forget where you both live on the way home.

Okay, if drinking isn’t your thing, you should still take the time out together and remind yourselves what you saw in each other before your children sucked all the passion out of your relationship. So wash the baby sick from your hair, spritz on a little of the perfume that’s threatening to go off on your dressing table, and have a night out without lugging a change bag around.

If films are your thing, I have a pair of Cineworld Tickets up for grabs. They’re valid until May and entitle you to a free pass to see a movie of your choice.

Finally! You’ll be able to whisk off your partner to see something with a little gratuitous violence and scenes of a sexual nature and not some animated tat with princesses or superheroes (let’s face it, these afternoons cost you far more than the admission fee when your little angel sees all the merchandise in Toys R Us).
