We were recently sent a seriously cute outfit from Polarn O. Pyret’s Spring / Summer collection to review. I’d stumbled across their website a few weeks before as a fellow blogger was running a competition to win a voucher. Whilst browsing the website I was instantly struck by the bright vibrant colours and the distinctly Swedish influence. Their philosophy is to focus on what is best for children; namely that the clothes are fun, functional, and durable. Sounds good to me!
On a recent trip to London I had my first opportunity to see their range up close and personal. Again, you’re hit by bright blocks of primary colours and retro designs. Polarn O. Pyret pride themselves for not compromising on quality and feeling the materials you can appreciate just what this means. All the clothes are organic and soft to touch. The jackets are fully lined and have layers of fabric to keep out the elements and ensure your child stays warm. I particularly liked the fact that their clothes are (mostly but not exclusively) unisex and “can withstand wear and tear and (be) handed down from brother to sister”.
Dexter’s new outfit is fun and stylish. His blue t-shirt is covered in images of ice lollies and the denim shorts have great detailing on the pockets at the back. It’s well worth checking out the full range of t-shirts as there’s lots of different designs available if ice lollies aren’t your thing. Their beautiful denim also comes in a variety of styles and colours.
The clothes are also designed to grow with your child. With adjustable waistbands, their shorts and trousers will offer months of extra wear. Their t-shirts have 3 press studs rather than the traditional 2 for easy dressing. Like many babies Dexter hates it when I pop on a t-shirt or jumper and it gets stuck on his face - he can produce some almighty screams during those milliseconds when he can’t see what’s happening. Having 3 press studs means I can swiftly pass the t-shirt over his head with minimal fuss.
Another thing worth mentioning is the quality seams. Although Dexter uses a bib at mealtimes, he has a tendency to move his head suddenly whilst we spoon-feed him. He’ll often finish breakfast with bits of porridge in his hair, on his ears and dribbling down his chin. Inevitably some of this mess gets beneath his bib and onto his clothes. This can lead to his t-shirts becoming rigid with food which can result in chaffing to his neck. The seams of his Polarn O. Pyret t-shirt are so soft (even when wet) that they don’t rub him at all.
I’ve read a few other reviews before writing my own and was shocked to discover that some mums have mentioned that the clothes come up large for their size. Dexter is 10 months and was sent a 12-18 month t-shirt and shorts - the outfit is only slightly baggy and he’s not a very big baby at all. That said I know this t-shirt will last him the best part of a year and will look really funky come the summer months.
Okay the clothes are pricey. At £12.50 for the t-shirt and £18.50 for the shorts, it’s easy to dismiss them as another inaccessible designer brand - but this simply isn’t the case. The clothes have survived the washing machine and tumble dryer again and again (I’m told this is also the case at 60 degrees for tough stains) and haven’t lost their shape. The thick and durable cotton still feels as soft as when we received it. Having learnt the hard way with kiddies clothes - you get what you pay for and you won’t be disappointed with Polarn O. Pyret.
If you like their range then I highly recommend you sign up to their newsletter for some exclusive offers, plus follow them @polarnopyretUK on twitter and like them on Facebook.

I spotted this top, when you posted a picture on Mother’s Day, I nearly asked you where it was from x
It’s really lovely xx The blue is sort of muted rather than ‘in your face’.
They do have some gorgeous clothes. I’m never sure if it’s a treat for the children so much as the parents
He is such a gorgeous little boy and I love the outfits. I love my boys in bright and funky so will have to check them out! x
Awww thanks lovely. He is so well behaved. I love him in this top as it matches his eyes x
