Craig is always losing his patience with me for losing things. Every day I lose either my phone, my keys, my bank card or a lighter. I swear he bought my gorgeous DKNY handbag from the same store as Mary Poppins as I’m forever going shopping, getting to a check-out, and getting red-faced as I end up arm-deep in it searching for my card.
It’s people like me that gave that irritating bloke off Britain’s Got Talent the inspiration for the hugely annoying “Where’s my Keys? Where’s my Phone?”. No matter what sort of mental check-list I do before leaving the house, I’m guaranteed to struggle to find what I’m looking for a few minutes later.
My problem is that I bung things in, what I think at the time, are really memorable and sensible places. I’ll pop my bank card in my coat pocket so I can whip it out quickly, rather than the overwhelmingly more popular place that is a Purse; I’ll put my phone in a zip compartment of my bag in case there are pickpockets, then frantically search my coat pockets in an emergency; I carry at least 3 lighters on me at all times but still have to turn my bag inside-out in frustration when I can’t find one.
My mates have suggested I try one of those ‘clap to activate’ light-up keyring things that they make for the elderly but I can’t say I’ve ever actually seen one to buy! I’ve been like this for 30 years and until yesterday, I didn’t think it would ever change.
Playing on Twitter the other day I spotted lots of people tweeting their favourite pictures to @MB_CustomCovers and went to their profile to see what was going on. There was a competition to win a mobile phone skin to personalise your mobile phone. I mentioned it to Craig and said something about it being a “teenager thing” and he took me up on it immediately - “What if you get a bright picture of Dexter on it? Might help you find your locate your phone quicker when I ring you. I’d enter it”. So I did.
I entered with this picture of Dexter and actually won!
I love this picture of Dexter (I jazzed it up with a polaroid effect hence the colours are comic-book bright) - he looks like a proper super hero and there’s such a funny expression on his face.
When the vinyl cover arrived I popped it on my phone - I honestly didn’t expect it to look this good. I love it!
If you want one - I’d recommend these guys as the quality is great and the material seems really hard-wearing (granted my phone hasn’t spent a day surfing in my bag yet). I’m now quite looking forward to seeing Dexter’s cheeky face smirking at me before I get into a row with O2, British Gas or whoever else Emma’s Diary saw fit to pass my personal details to without my consent.
I don’t think it looks too ‘teenager’, do you? Even if it does - who cares? I got ID’ed for buying cigarettes the other day at 30 years old - I won’t be moaning about looking young when I’m really past it. Most importantly, I’m saving the love of my life from having a heart attack when he’s on his tenth time of calling me to remind me to buy lottery tickets xxx
Awh I think it looks great. I don’t think it looks too young at all.
What a great prize to win!
Lol - it’s cute huh?
What a great idea, it looks fab! Love the pic. Be interested to see how we’ll it wears!
I love it and well done you for winning it! It’s such a beautiful picture of Dexter x
