GIVEAWAY & REVIEW - Mother’s Day Gifts by Treat Republic - WIN a Personalised Glass Chopping Board (CD: 30/03/2014)

I’ve made no secret of the fact I love Treat Republic. Whereas you so often have to wade through pages of rubbish on gift sites, they always seem to have hundreds of gifts I really want. From gorgeous gardening gifts you’d be pleased to display in your garden, to cookware that you can’t bring yourself to squirrel away in a cupboard, to jewellery that you won’t leave the house without… it’s all there.

This Mother’s Day they’ve hand-selected some of their loveliest bits and bobs and popped them into a easily searchable category on their website. There are gifts for every budget in there - none of which would look out of place here in my home.

They also treated me to a few select pieces to review. I picked a Personalised White Harmony Bracelet as I’m a huge fan of pearls and simplicity when it comes to jewellery. For me, pearls set off any outfit beautifully and are the best way to pull off a sophisticated look with minimal effort. As I’m famed for my laziness when it comes to styling myself, pearls are an easy choice as they can be worn with literally anything and needn’t come off my wrist - fabulous.

Given I’m pregnant and my wrists are swollen I also like the idea of a T Bar clasp as it leaves me plenty of room and is easy for me to do up myself. Dexter also loves fiddling with it whilst it sits on my wrist which is handy if he’s kicking off in public and I need to silence him quickly.

I was allowed up to three characters to personalise my bracelet so naturally I picked my married initials as YET ANOTHER hint to Craigy. Come on honey - I’m about to have your second child and you still haven’t put a ring on it! Is this because I once joked that I wanted a huge fuss when you proposed? Right now, I’d be happy if you did it on the sofa whilst watching Family Guy.

The personalisation is on the silver plated chunky heart and very subtle. The two tone element of the bracelet is reflected in the tiny silver discs which sit between each of the pearls - this means it catches the light perfectly and adds some extra interest.

I’m really pleased with this bracelet and suspect any mummy facing day after day of bum changes, school runs and washing up would love it too.

I also picked a vibrant pink Family Rules Glass Chopping Board. This looks fabulous in my kitchen and has injected a much-needed bit of colour in there (also available in blue or grey to fit in with your kitchen theme). The sentiment is also spot-on for my house. Given Craig and I love a good argument, I can’t think of any better time to remind ourselves to love and respect each other than when either of us are wielding a knife!

The chopping board is A4 size and wipes clean incredibly easily. This makes it perfect for meat and / or vegetables. It also has little rubber feet on the reverse to protect your work surfaces.

So… would you like to win a personalised glass chopping board of your own? Here’s your chance then! The winner will be drawn on Mother’s Day.

Christmas Gifts for the Entire Family at Treat Republic

Capture61 Christmas Gifts for the Entire Family at Treat Republic

A huge box of goodies arrived on my doorstep a few weeks ago! These were gifts I’d handpicked from Treat Republic’s newest additions. Knowing just how much I’m struggling to get out and about hauling my ever-increasing bump around, they wanted to see if their website could help me tick a few presents off my Christmas list this year. It’s such a lovely gesture, it bought a little tear to my eye and I’m so grateful.

As Treat Republic is my all-time favourite online gift shop for quirky and fabulous bits and bobs, I managed to get some really lovely presents for my dad and his wife, Dexter and Craig. To be honest, I could have just got everything from there as there are plenty of Christmas gifts for the entire family at Treat Republic! I must admit, it does feel a little strange blogging about them before Christmas Day, but my family are under strict instructions not to read this post so hopefully it won’t spoil the surprise!

First up I picked some gifts for my dad and his very lovely wife. We don’t see them anywhere near as much as we should but I talk to my dad on the phone every week. He’s had some good news recently and has obtained a degree in Social Care. I’m so proud of him as this is something he’s wanted to achieve for many years.

I’m sure he’d raise his eyebrows at what I’m about to say, but they remind me of the couple from The Good Life. They grow their own potatoes and olives, and encourage wildlife into their garden. It all sounds very twee, but to be honest, you’re just as likely to see them having a cheeky glass of wine in the garden as you are doing any actual work!

For them, I therefore choose something really lovely for the garden. I’ve been raving about Treat Republic’s ridiculously cute watering cans for months now. And now I’ve actually got to see one up close. I choose the Lucky Elephant (£24.99) for my dad and he’s absolutely lovely. These beautiful watering cans recently featured in ITV’s This Morning’s Christmas Gift Guide for Women and rightly so. Each one in the series is meticulously handcrafted making them extra special in my opinion. They’re also perfectly sized for indoor use too and will look very lovely sat guarding your windowsill.

Speaking of windowsills (see what I did there?) I also got them this cast iron double bird bath (£10.99) to sit in view of their kitchen window. They already have an enormous feeder out there that seems to attract all the pigeons in Fareham rather than the garden birds they probably had intended. This miniature bird bath will look very cute alongside it… and I can’t wait to see if a pigeon attempts to plonk his bum in it.

For my long-suffering other half (Craig) I chose an indoor herb allotment (£24.99) to ease us gently into our very own grow-your-own empire. Craig loves cooking and seems to spend a fortune on pots of spices and herbs. He’s always saying things taste better fresh, so I’ve taken him at his word and am hoping to make a Diarmuid Gavin out of him! Given our new house has a bay window in the kitchen, we also have an enormous windowsill to fill - this will look absolutely adorable as a centerpiece and I can’t wait to get started. Just look how cute this is?!!!

A little shed houses all those necessary bits and pieces for sewing and growing his plants. Whilst a large fenced off garden is made up of three plant pots each containing soil so the gift can be used straight away.

As an additional little stocking filler, I also got him a personalised keyring bottle opener (£9.99) with a cute mini torch. I’m hoping this will come in handy when he stumbles home from the pub and struggles to get his key in the lock! Best of all, it comes in a cute little case making it super easy to wrap! > Well thought-out Treat Republic!

For the little man in my life (Dexter) we choose a fabulous Jute Santa Sack (4 designs available at £12.99 each). We’ve wanted one of these for ages as Craig remembers having one when he was little and wants to carry on the tradition. It’s surprisingly roomy so big enough to hold anything Santa might decide to treat him to, and has that gorgeous natural sack smell. It also has a very cute Reindeer mail stamp so Dexter knows the gifts have come directly from Father Christmas himself! Okay… I’ll admit I stuffed the sack with sofa cushions for this pic as I haven’t actually bought him anything yet!!!

We also got him an adorable monkey hat and mitten set (£12.99) to keep him nice and snug in the winter months. He looks awesome in these knitted sets and has already been rocking an owl version. We’re forever calling him our little monkey so it will be lovely to see him in it. It’s super soft and has handy ear flaps to keep them warm.

There are, of course, TONS more to choose from for the special people (and pets!) in your life so well worth heading on over to their Pinterest page if you’re stuck for ideas. They’re also on Facebook and of course Twitter if you’re feeling lazy and want them to come up with some suggestions for you!

The Perfect Gift for the Frequent Entertainer - A Personalised Cheeseboard from Treat Republic

Capture6 The Perfect Gift for the Frequent Entertainer A Personalised Cheeseboard from Treat Republic

My old friends at Treat Republic sent me the most gorgeous cheese board last week. I might not be much of a cook, but I love to throw a party and I love simply love my new show-off piece. It’s the first thing we’ve owned that hints at us becoming a family of four, and therefore something I’ll treasure it forever. I can just see Craig and I whipping it out now every Christmas for the next 30 years!

Although my pictures show a rather tame slither of Cheddar and a hunk of Edam, we’re actually big cheese eaters in this house. Craig loves a bit of Stilton and I could eat a whole chunk of Applewood Smoked Cheddar - cheese has been my biggest pregnancy craving so far so our fridge was unfortunately a little bare this weekend!

Our cheese board is made from bamboo and has a concealed slide-out panel to hide away a full set of matching wooden handled stainless steel knives (a cheese knife, cheese fork, stilton knife and cheddar knife). It’s news to me but apparently bamboo is naturally antibacterial and environmentally friendly - bonus points here then! I’m just chuffed it’s absolutely huge so plenty of room for specialty crackers, butter, pickle and lots of delicious cheese!

The personalisation is fabulous. You have 20 letters to personalise the top row, and ordinarily this would be followed by ‘AKA THE BIG CHEESE’ on row 2. I played about with mine and added “GEMMA AND CRAIG (AND THE KIDDIEWINKS)”. I guess this means you are welcome to do the same as mine looks fantastic and, knowing Treat Republic as I do, they can’t do enough to ensure you have the perfect gift. I’ve already got something witty lined up for my dad for a Christmas pressie.

If you’re a regular reader of my blog and follow me on Twitter, you’ll already know I’m a massive fan of Treat Republic. The online gift market is HUGE but I haven’t come across another site that does it anywhere near as good as them. They’re quirky, fun, and a little bit out of the ordinary. There are so many great gifts for men, her, and baby all in one easy to navigate website. There’s family days out, retro gadgets for the man who has everything, a fabulous selection of garden gifts, and lots of personalised gifts for mum and baby. If you’re stuck for ideas, I fully recommend sending them an SOS tweet to @TreatRepublic, they’ll take all the legwork out of your gift search for you.

Here are some of my favourite bits from the website right now - just try to tell me there isn’t you something you don’t love in this little lot!

This isn’t the first time I’ve been bowled over by Treat Republic’s attention to detail and fabulous gift ideas. To see another of my reviews for a few bits from their mum and baby collection, click here.

All that’s left is to urge you to connect with them on their other social media outlets. They are the gift store that loves to give so there are regular competitions, tons of gift ideas, and a lots of giggles to be had (sometimes even at their expense… trust me, I’ve seen these guys play pass the parcel via YouTube for a competition) - lots of reasons to say hello! They’re on Pinterest and Facebook and of course Twitter (as above)- feel free to say I sent you!
