My Mini Madam is now a whole 9 weeks old and I’m sooooo in love with her.
Whereas Dexter is definitely a daddy’s boy, Heidi is most definitely in love with her mummy. I’m not sure if this is because I breastfed her for the first 2 months, or if it’s because we’re so in tune with one another. If she cries, I know exactly what she needs and any tears are shortlived. In fact, she’s one of the happiest babies I’ve ever met.
Heidi will sleep through the night most nights. She’ll sometimes wake up for a cheeky 5am feed, but otherwise she’ll lay in until 9am. This is just as well as she doesn’t like to miss anything throughout the day. Her days are spent snuggling with me, staring at herself in the mirror on her playmat, or having her bum jiggled in her rocker. She’s still not 100% sure of her big brother yet and her eyes will widen as he approaches, but she won’t complain when he showers her with over-exuberant kisses.

She’s gone from a dinky 6lbs 9 to 10lbs. She’s a long baby with beautiful long legs (inherited from daddy) and is right on track in 0-3 month clothing. Now her little face is filling out, you can see how much she looks like daddy. She’s nothing like her big brother and the only thing they share are mummy’s blue eyes. Of course I’m bias, but I can’t stop pinching myself at how beautiful both my children are.
We’ve started tummy time and Heidi has taken to it well. She’s tried to hold her own head from birth so I think she quite likes the challenge of lifting her head from her mat.

I don’t think it will have escaped anyone’s notice that I’ve struggled parenting the two children. I’ve been left with panic attacks following the birth and am up most of the night working myself into a state. Just when I’m beginning to tire out or I feel a bit overwhelmed, Heidi will give me a smile and my heart melts. Her smile lights up her entire face and she looks so pretty.

She also great at bath times and seems to find the water relaxing. She loves a good massage too and her skin is supremely soft as a result. I’ll be sharing some of the lotions and potions I’ve used on her skin over the next few weeks. At this age, it’s worth investing in their skin to ensure it stays soft and blemish free in the future.
Feeding-wise, Heidi’s on approximately 5x 180mls of formula. I gave up breastfeeding when I started being treated for post-natal depression as my medication seemed to make my milk dry out. She feeds incredibly well and any colic she experienced in her early days is subsiding. She’ll wind easily and is rarely sick.
Her next big milestones will be rolling over, and giggling. I simply can’t wait for these. I love you Heidi-bum xxx
