On a recent trip to the seaside to visit my dad, it was all too obvious that our beaches and seas are becoming increasingly polluted. Although Dex got to sink his toes into the sand, I didn’t dare let him venture too far from my beach towel for a crawl around. Not only would he try to eat as much sand as possible, there were sadly bits of rubbish lying around.
Here at Chez Mills - we try to do our bit as regards recycling. We have two bins in our kitchen and always separate our household waste from our recyclables. In fact, our council are so strict about this, we don’t actually have a choice! We’ve been doing this for so long now that it’s become second nature. We give tins and cans a quicky rinse then pop them in the red bin away from curious little fingers (Dex likes rubbish - a lot).
When I recently received an email from Ecover - they had a fun little infographic that helps to explain just what happens to all the plastic we come into contact with here in the UK everyday.
Ecover’s aim is to create a fully sustainable and recyclable plastic that will minimise the use of raw materials. It might seem trivial - but I’m really pleased to see that such a big brand is taking some responsibility - it would be so lovely to take Dexie for a splash in the sea and not worry about him trying to eat rubbish! Good on you Ecover!

Disclaimer - I was contacted by Ecover to spread the word about their Message in a Bottle campaign. I have not been financially compensated for this post - It’s simply an interesting initiative I thought I’d share.
