Funky Giraffe Bibs Review

Bibs are an essential baby accessory that often cause more frustration than is necessary. Whether it’s itchy velcro fastenings, troublesome stains, or just that you never seem to be able to find a clean one when you need it - you’ll find yourself moaning about them at least 5 times a day during the early stages of parenthood.

The trick is to find a brand that fit well, are comfortable for baby and available in tons of different colours to suit every dinky outfit and sleepsuit you bought. Once you find a bib that does the trick, buy tons of them. I’m talking 15-20. You’ll be amazed how many you’ll end up washing in a week, and how quickly they mysteriously disappear down the sides of your sofa or into the depths of your changebag.

This is the beauty of Funky Giraffe Bibs. The more you buy, the more you save. For example, if you consider that a bib is priced at £4 individually, if you buy 10 the price comes down to just £2 per bib - that’s a HUGE 50% saving! Better still, you get free UK delivery if you spend £7. 10 bibs will therefore set you back just £20 delivered. That’s the cheapest deal I’ve come across online. You’re literally spoilt for choice too with hundreds of designs and colourways (including seasonal limited editions).

FG Bibs

Dexter did have a few bandana bibs when he was younger (Funky Giraffe Bibs as it happens), but he wasn’t a particularly dribbly baby and was out of cloth bibs and into plastic ones as soon as we started weaning him. Heidi, on the other hand started teething at 6 weeks and is constantly sporting a chin full of baby drool. She’s also developed an annoying habit of falling asleep mid-bottle so a pool of milk will collect in the creases of her neck saturating her clothes.

Funky Giraffe bibs are therefore great for my little madam. They’re adjustable with cleverly designed popper fastenings that allow you to achieve a really snug fit under the chin to catch all the drool. Made from 100% cotton, they are also supremely soft and wash like a dream (even at high temperatures). A fleecy lining also provides great wetness protection so baby’s skin and clothes stay dry. They really are fabulous quality.

I’d wholeheartedly recommend Funky Giraffe Bibs and it seems I’m not alone as they have some seriously impressive feedback collected from thousands of customers. If you’d like to buy some yourself and check out the other things they sell (including adorable socks and hats) then head to the new look website at funkygiraffebibs.co.uk or say hello on Twitter and Facebook.

GENIUS Dental Products for Babies and Toddlers - Brush Baby Review

I’m beyond pleased with my Brush Baby haul. I was sent the Chewable Toothbrush & Teether, and Dental Wipes to review and I’m pleased to report I’m now a brand-convert and would recommend them to everybody.

Previously Dexter would gum his toothbrushes to death within days. Although he loves to brush his teeth and gets excited about it every morning and evening, in truth, there wasn’t too much brushing going on. Rather he’d just chomp on the brush-head and his back teeth were seeing very little action.

The chewable toothbrush is an amazing invention. Cleverly designed to be comfortably to hold, and made of silicone in a unique shape that fits little mouths correctly and reaches molar (back) teeth and gums, this gives you the reassurance that your child’s toothy-pegs are getting a thorough clean. It can be used with or without toothpaste and is cleaned in a matter of seconds with a quick wipe.

Brush Baby TB

Dexter has taken to this really well and didn’t need for me to show him how to use it. He slipped his finger through the little hole and set to work biting the toothbrush to bits. This time however I happy to let him as I could physically see the toothbrush enveloping his gums.

Even better, it doubles as a nifty little teether. It soothes sore gums and can even be cooled in the fridge or used as an applicator for teething gel.

Chewable Toothbrush

It’s 100% safe for your little to chew on as it’s made from the highest grade medical silicone and is BPA-free. It’s also dishwasher and steriliser safe for killing any bacteria. You can’t say that of a standard toothbrush so it’s actually much more hygienic and will last you so much longer too.

Finally, it’s a tiny £4.99. It’s made cleaning Dexter’s teeth so much easier and I’m chuffed to bits with it. He has his first dentist appointment in a few weeks and now I’m much more confident I won’t get my wrist slapped. The only thing I’d point out is that the website claims it’s suitable for children 0-36 months, but having tried Brush Baby before when Dexter was under 6 months, I feel this is much better aimed at children who can hold the brush for themselves.

For Heidi-Bum the Brush Baby Dental Wipes are also brilliant. Although she doesn’t have any teethies yet, I suspect she is teething. The Dental Wipes ensure her mouth is clean and healthy and she’s perfectly happy for mummy to have a quick swoosh inside her mouth with one.

Dental Wipes

Perfectly safe to use from birth, these banana flavoured wipes are fluoride-free and formulated with Xylitol to combat decay-causing bacteria. They’re also individually wrapped and sterile for hygiene purposes.

The wipes are actually little finger-puppets so you don’t have to worry about tears or wrapping it around your fingers. They feel dry to touch and obviously work using your babies saliva. You simply slip your index finger inside and gently wipe over babies gums, tongue, cheeks and baby teeth at least once a day.

Dental Wipes Baby

Given Heidi hasn’t responded to any new tastes particularly well (Calpol is met by hysterical screaming) I did think she might reject my finger. Instead she was happy to chomp her gums down and seemed incredibly relaxed about the experience. Given that clean gums can also help prevent teething pain, early oral hygiene is definitely worth adopting.

Sold in boxes of 28 with each box costing just £3.99 (if you buy 5, you get a 6th box free of charge), this is a perfectly accessible price point, and one I’m more than happy to pay for such a fantastic product.

What are you waiting for? Get onto the website now or seek them out in Boots, Sainsbury’s, Tesco or Waitrose. To find out more about the full range of products (suitable from birth, right the way through their school years) you can also check out Facebook and Twitter.

We’re Tommee Tippee Mumb@ssadors!

Posted on

I’m absolutely delighted to announce a new partnership with one of my favourite brands this year, and to be invited into the Tommee Tippee Mumb@ssador program alongside the lovely Vikki from Love from Mummy and Chelsea from MS Mummy of Two - two of my favourite reads! They’ll be my co-sponsors for Britmums (along with Puckababy), and baby Heidi and I will be working closely with them throughout the year to bring you all the latest product news, along with a few giveaways and reviews of our favourite products.

Tommee Tippee don’t really need much of an introduction do they? I’d be shocked if I could find a single mum in the country who doesn’t have at least one of their baby products in their home. Their entire baby range has won numerous awards and they’re definitely the most affordable brand to grace the shelves of our supermarkets and baby superstores.

With his Tommee Tippee Explora Aeroplane Spoon - These are genius!

Dexter had everything Tommee Tippee when he was a baby. Despite trying to breastfeed him, I wasn’t able to last longer than 6 weeks. At this stage he was hospitalised with Strep B and I was unable to sustain him via the dribbles I was able to express. He had a Tommee Tippee essentials pack crammed full of everything a new mum needs to safely bottle their little one - and essential it most definitely turned out to be! Dexter was able to grip the bottles comfortably and his steriliser was quick, easy-to-use and invaluable for us as parents. It made a challenging time so much easier and we’ve been huge brand advocates ever since.

Dexter with his Tommee Tippee bottle - this seems like soooo long ago!

Although the plan is to breastfeed Heidi (wish me luck… they’ll be numerous posts about this I’m sure), we’re still using Tommee Tippee for just about everything else. My kitchen cupboards are filled with sippy cups, and the drawers have all Dexter’s old weaning spoons and cutlery laying in preparation for Heidi. I’m also hoping to road test a monitor when Heidi flies the nest and heads off into her new bedroom in a few months time.

So that’s it - get set to hear lots from me over the forthcoming months as we do the early parenting thing all over again with this little one!

Finally, here’s some previous posts all about Tommee Tippee - just in case you missed them the first time round:
