Dexter has learnt what his knees are for this week.
Although he has been shuffling around the house for the last month by pulling himself along by his arms, so far his legs have been dragged along as a consequence. The result is a slug-like movement that must be hugely tiring for him. He’s also yet to learn to flip back onto his back from his tummy (unfortunately he can manage the manoeuvre the opposite way around making bum changes the single most frustrating feature of parenting for Craig and I).
These week we noticed he started reaching for things higher-up and pulling himself to a kneeling position. This was incredibly cute to watch but also quite funny - once on his knees, Dexter couldn’t seem to get back down again / or pull himself upright.
He’s learnt there’s some advantages to all this. Sneakily liberating mummy’s purse from his pushchair basket being just one of them…
