We’re all different and we all have different tastes. So, it goes without saying that when it comes to engagement rings, men and women often value different elements. Here are some of my top pointers if you’re in the market for an engagement ring.

The designer

Unlike clothing, designers of engagement rings tend to be less obvious. Some of the most popular rings are classic styles and newer designs are sometimes just fleeting trend-copies by ring makers. However, there’s an exception to “the designer doesn’t matter” rule if you want to create a custom ring. This is when the choice of the designer is all too important. You want to work with someone who has the required skills (and vision!) to produce the ring you have in mind.

How to make sure your teen has fun at prom

Prom is supposed to be a memorable and exciting time in a girls life. It’s an emotional night for both you and your daughter. Prom is a milestone for your child; the end of a chapter for her, and the move onto bigger, better things on her journey in life.

So, here is some advice to give your daughter to make sure she has a night she will always treasure.

Most Importantly – Have Fun

The most important thing is to ensure your daughter has fun – so tell her to! She only gets to have one prom, so you’ll want to ensure she gets the best out of it. While prom can be an emotional event for your daughter, you can encourage her to have fun. Prom means she knows there is a part of her life that is coming to an end and she is soon to begin a new chapter. So, help her block out unhappy or negative thoughts and get her to concentrate on what possibly lies ahead. If you’re unsure, inspire her to find out with you. It’s important that your daughter enjoys her special night, so do what you can to help her make it fun.

Asking Her Date

Asking someone out on a date is not fun for anyone, it’s rife with emotions and some people just become incredibly awkward and nervous when it comes time to ask a date to prom. But, this should also be a fun experience. Make sure your daughter asks her date to prom at least two weeks before the event, if not further in advance to ensure her dream date isn’t already going with someone else. Encourage your teenager to have confidence and faith in herself and to use it. Once she has a date, before she leaves for the prom, teach her a few quick and easy dance steps, including a slow dance, so she feels ultra-confident on the dance floor (if she doesn’t already). If your daughter is unfortunate enough to be stood up after planning her date, be sure to comfort her and make sure she knows you’re there for her.

The Dress

Photographs

Make sure you give your daughter a camera (or that her phone is fully charged) before she leaves for prom. Prom is meant to be a night to remember and have fun at. So, make sure she captures those moments.
