The most important elements of an engagement ring

We’re all different and we all have different tastes. So, it goes without saying that when it comes to engagement rings, men and women often value different elements. Here are some of my top pointers if you’re in the market for an engagement ring.

The designer

Unlike clothing, designers of engagement rings tend to be less obvious. Some of the most popular rings are classic styles and newer designs are sometimes just fleeting trend-copies by ring makers. However, there’s an exception to “the designer doesn’t matter” rule if you want to create a custom ring. This is when the choice of the designer is all too important. You want to work with someone who has the required skills (and vision!) to produce the ring you have in mind.

The retailer

Often, the retailer is of little importance to both men and women. However, you want to ensure you purchase an engagement ring from a reputable retailer who has a solid returns & warranty policy. You can view a wide array of Sydney engagement rings at Certified Diamond Network.

Quality of the stone

Men often obsess over details like the quality of the engagement ring’s stone. But, it’s important not to get carried away with the quality, particularly since the differences in gradings are hard to see with the naked eye. That doesn’t mean you should buy the cheapest ring you can find, but rather, consider spending your budget more so on the quality of the band.

The setting

The setting or style of the engagement ring is often the most important element for the bride-to-be, and therefore e a big priority for guys. The setting and style tend to incorporate the way stones are set in the band, which stone or stones are used, and other design intricacies of the band.

The shape or cut of the diamond

The diamond’s shape or cut is an important element for engagement rings. Along with setting and style, it’s another obvious visual marker for your ring. There are several common diamond shapes often used for engagement rings that tend to go in and out of fashion. If she wants an older or unusual cut, such as those found in vintage rings, you may be able to find a fabulous ring at a great price.

The metal

Traditionally, women prefer silver or gold-coloured engagement rings, but seldom both in one ring. One of the most common (albeit expensive) metals for engagement rings is platinum, but there is a plethora of metals to choose from to suit any budget.

Final Word

Although your proposal is likely to be a surprise, use every opportunity to discover each other’s tastes beforehand. Window shopping is great way to see what you both like, as is browsing online jewellers. Similarly, if your friend proposes and posts a picture of the ring on Instagram or Facebook, show your partner and she how he/she responds to the ring. Try not to stress too much though, the most important thing about your choice is just thatyou chose it.

How to make sure your teen has fun at prom

Posted on

Prm

Prom is supposed to be a memorable and exciting time in a girls life. It’s an emotional night for both you and your daughter. Prom is a milestone for your child; the end of a chapter for her, and the move onto bigger, better things on her journey in life.

So, here is some advice to give your daughter to make sure she has a night she will always treasure.

Most Importantly – Have Fun

The most important thing is to ensure your daughter has fun – so tell her to! She only gets to have one prom, so you’ll want to ensure she gets the best out of it. While prom can be an emotional event for your daughter, you can encourage her to have fun. Prom means she knows there is a part of her life that is coming to an end and she is soon to begin a new chapter. So, help her block out unhappy or negative thoughts and get her to concentrate on what possibly lies ahead. If you’re unsure, inspire her to find out with you. It’s important that your daughter enjoys her special night, so do what you can to help her make it fun.

Asking Her Date

Asking someone out on a date is not fun for anyone, it’s rife with emotions and some people just become incredibly awkward and nervous when it comes time to ask a date to prom. But, this should also be a fun experience. Make sure your daughter asks her date to prom at least two weeks before the event, if not further in advance to ensure her dream date isn’t already going with someone else. Encourage your teenager to have confidence and faith in herself and to use it. Once she has a date, before she leaves for the prom, teach her a few quick and easy dance steps, including a slow dance, so she feels ultra-confident on the dance floor (if she doesn’t already). If your daughter is unfortunate enough to be stood up after planning her date, be sure to comfort her and make sure she knows you’re there for her.

The Dress

While planning for a fun prom with your daughter, be sure to shop for prom dresses in 2018 at Peaches Boutique. Make it a fun mother-daughter experience that acts as the kick off to a very special and hopefully memorable event that she will thank you for being part of.

Photographs

Make sure you give your daughter a camera (or that her phone is fully charged) before she leaves for prom. It’s important that she has tons of fun capturing the night and is part of as many photos as she can be. The photos that are snapped at prom are the ones that she will look at for years to come. Prom is meant to be a night to remember and have fun at. So, make sure she captures those moments.

Perfect Christmas partywear for little ladies

Posted on

What is going on this year..?! My Facebook is full of Elf on the Shelf & Christmas tree pics and we’re only in the first week of December. We’ve also had no fewer than 5 festive party invites from family friends - and oddly, none of them clash. Fortunately, I finished the Christmas shopping early this year, giving me plenty of time to focus on getting ready for the party season ahead.

Of all of us, Heidi is the most in need of a few sparkly outfits for the dance floor. Thankfully, I’ve been seriously impressed with the high-street this season, so I’m whisking Heidi away for a girly shopping day. It’s the perfect excuse to check out what’s new in my favourite shops and pick up a mini outfit for my little lady at the same time (sshh, don’t tell Craig).

Belles and whistles

Let’s face it, no one else does partywear for girls quite like River Island. I’m loving their limited edition white collection this year - there are styles for every taste with plenty of pleats, chiffon and french lace to transform your little madam into a perfect snow princess. With age appropriate skirt lengths and plenty of puff, they’ll look stunning mid-twirl on the dance floor.

River Island also has some beautiful metallic knit bobble hats too - perfect for keeping your little one warm and cosy on the way to all those festive engagements. Rose gold, pink blush and dirty gold are this season’s must-haves, and can be worn throughout the year to glam up the almost any outfit.

Pretty in pink

It’s not for everyone, but Heidi looks beautiful in pink. Whether you’re shopping for a 2 year old, or a fussy teen, River Island have tons of cotton candy options, and all the accessories to complete the look. If you can’t bear too much pink, try twinning a pink tutu skirt with a black leotard, or going for a long sleeved pink dress with black tights and boots.
