Before holiday we were contacted by the guys at Little Chickie, an independent Baby Boutique stocking handpicked goodies from across the globe. They kindly sent Heidi some adorable pieces from their bright and adorable collection and it’s now one of my favourite websites to browse for holidaywear and unique staples for the children’s wardrobes. Packed full of quality and ethical brands such as Olive & Moss, Little Green Radicals, Slugs & Snails and Piccalilly, the collection is distinctive, vibrant and guaranteed to help your little one stand out from the crowd.

We have found some fantastic up and coming new designers, and successful European labels which are just arriving in the UK as well as some established UK brands. So what was Heidi sent?

Mini Madam was sent the most adorable Kite Clothing pink daisy dress that she wore for her first birthday on our recent holiday to the Canaries. Based in Poole in Dorset, the Kite Clothing eco-friendly range features children’s wear made with organic cotton without using any chemicals - even the buttons are made with coconut shells! The brand focuses on beautiful colours and prints in relaxed and practical styles for the trend-setting toddler.

Heidi’s dress was a dream fit, perfect around the neckline and bust with plenty of room to grow. As it’s calf-length it hides her nappy and covers her bum if she has a tumble, yet doesn’t interfere with crawling should she fancy a lazy bout of exploring.

I love the vibrant pink making her easy to spot in a crowd, and the cute feminine daisy design looks fabulous on her. Front and back yokes means the dress keeps its shape perfectly without ironing, and there’s a back zip opening for fuss-free dressing. Made from organic cotton it’s good for the farmer, good for the planet and good for baby - especially given Heidi is prone to eczema. This also makes it thick and opaque, yet perfectly breathable in the height of the summer sun.

This dress is £23.95 and is spot on for special occasions yet can be worn time and time throughout the year as it looks equally great with a cardie and tights. When she grows out of it, we’ll pop it in her memory box given she wore it for her very first birthday.

They also kindly sent her a Gilly the Giraffe Olive & Moss tee. I’m a massive fan of this brand given their thick cotton washes amazingly well with zero shrinkage. Its also insanely soft and features tons of little textured details to bring the designs to life. The bright stripey colours, capped sleeves and delicate edging looks incredibly pretty and Heidi loves the soft bumps of Gilly’s applique body.

There are dozens of other Olive & Moss pieces to choose from at Little Chickie including quality rompers, bibs and sweatshirts all in their distinctive retro designs. Having gathered quite the cult following, there are tons of quirky characters to collect with coordinating accessories. This paticular tee is £19.95 which might seem expensive but I’d spend this time and time again given the unbeatable quality.
