My Tiny Tiddlers Review: Colourful & cool clothes for the trendsetting tot

Tiny Tiddlers

Another BabyExpo find, My Tiny Tiddlers boast a fabulous collection of bright, vibrant and seriously cool threads for the style-savvy 0-7 year old. A husband and wife team, and parents to two little girls, they independently source suppliers that provide quality, comfortable and trendy clothing, and boy do they choose well. Although the collection is in its infancy, there’s nothing on the site that I wouldn’t happily dress my little monsters in.

There are a handful of threads from brands such as Jelly the Pug; Rare Editions; Andy and Evan; and Sweet Kids and seeing them all on a clothes rail at the BabyExpo you’re instantly struck by the fun colourways. There are fab jumper dresses for little ladies, funky linen shorts for little jet-setters, and the lovely soft sweaters for snuggling up to mummy in.

The Boys Collection

My Tiny Tiddlers BoysKnitwear Striped Pullover £23.20 / Beige Glasses Embroidered Tee £19.50 / Aqua Twill Shorts £21.90 / Puckered Gingham Shirtzie £25.60 / Aqua Twill Trousers £24.00 / Orange Twill Belt Shorts £21.90

Dexter was kindly given a mustard jumper by Boboli and it has fast become my favourite in his drawer. It washes like a dream, is super soft and suits him perfectly. The V neck sits perfectly over collared tees and there’s a little Boboli insignia and patched elbows for extra detail. As Dexter is (weirdly) blonde, this looks great with his skin tone teamed with jeans and bright socks. Add a rather hideous gel-job (hairdresser I am not!) and he just looks so grown up!

Dex Jumper

At our local soft play centre, if he’s wearing this I can spot him a mile off racing through mazes and thrashing around in ball pits! It was also the outfit we picked for his first ever day at nursery and a fellow mummy commented on how cool he looked!

PicMonkey Collage2

Given it’s incredibly lightweight, it’ll serve as a great jumper for summer nights as well as winter days when teamed with a chunky cardie. At £17, it’s reasonably priced too.

Of course, there’s some lovely bits for girlies too…

The Girls Collection

My Tiny Tiddlers GirlsKnitwear Ruffle Dress (pinks) £30.80 / Tulle Skirt £21.60 / Knitwear Dress (grey, yellow and white) £27.00 / Tights Floral £8.00 / Knitwear Bolero £26.20 / Knitwear Combined Dress (navy and white) £28.60 / Knitwear Dress (grey and pinks) £27.00

The collections are clearly just “getting off the ground” but to be honest there’s nothing I don’t like! Everything is practical, modish and great quality. Prices are in line with Boden and other high-end baby boutiques but it’s well worth keeping an eye on Facebook and Twitter for seasonal sales and promotions.

More of the same please My Tiny Tiddlers! I look forward to seeing the collection grow.

Mum and Dad are on the move!

They say that moving house is one of the most stressful times in your life…

… Well add little people into the equation and it doubles.

Everything that you think about has to include the children and it can be a testing and turbulent time for the entire family.

But it doesn’t have to be that way!

Before The Move

Moving home can be scary for the little ones as everything they have known is now about to change. And change is scary.

Ensure to get them involved and make it an exciting adventure!

Ask about what colour they would like their bedroom to be, and talk about the exciting new things the house will have for them. Maybe a nice big garden to play in or their own room.

If you have the opportunity, visit the house as a family prior to the move.

Make trips to the area on a regular basis so that it becomes more familiar to them, with visits to the local park or the shops.

During The Move

In an ideal world, a relative or friend would look after the children while you concentrate on the move. But unfortunately we are not all lucky enough to have that option.

If they’re old enough, make them ‘Head Mover’ and give them their own job, if not, take turns watching them so that the flow of the move is not disrupted by lost children.

It’s important that they have your attention and feel part of the process.

Settling In

Letting the children unpack their own boxes first is essential to making them feel settled and creating a familiar surrounding that they can call home.

After any move, children are naturally clingy, so take time to do things together at home and create the comforting family environment they are longing for.

Of course with the new year approaching and our bank balance feeling a little dry after Christmas, the cost of moving is always a worry for any family. Being organised with your finances can also make a move less stressful. This Moving House Tool is a great way of understanding the costs involved in moving before you even decide to take the plunge.

Moving home should be a fun and exciting experience for children, so it’s your job to be as organised and stress free as possible.

Headbands with a twist: Little Bean Babywear Review

Posted on

Capture

Heidi is very dainty and has the most beautiful eyelashes. To us, she’s every inch the beautiful little girl, but owing to my penchant for dressing her in blue, she’ll often get mistaken for a boy. It doesn’t bother me at all, but I would really love for people to see her for what she is. Yes, she has her daddy’s big ears, has sported cradle cap since birth and wears her big brother’s hand-me-downs, but she’s our perfect little madam.

Headbands are a great way of making her look less androgynous, without us having to deck her out in dresses. They don’t have to be powder pink, purple or hugely girly, a dinky little flower does the trick.

I discovered Little Bean Babywear at my local BabyExpo in Berkshire a few weeks ago. The stall was set up with adorable pictures of babies (girls and boys might I add) wearing cleverly designed head wear, and I couldn’t resist popping over.

Who are Little Bean Babywear?

Little Bean Boutique1

The brand was set up by a mum of two lovable and boisterous boys. Despite a plethora of cute and adorable baby head wear accessories for little girls, she struggled to find anything for her little boys to wear. Not only this, but baby headbands tended to be elasticated, one size fits all and well, boring.

She set about making handmade foam headbands to jazz up baby outfits for both sexes. Made using non-toxic E.V.A foam filling and cotton covers they’re not stretchy, rather they are entirely adjustable as they have velcro fastening at the back.

What do we think?

I really love the adjustable element as Heidi has what I lovingly refer to as alien-head (think as far removed from flat-head syndrome as you can get and you’re there). I joke this is because she’s secretly a baby genius and has a massive brain, but it’s (perhaps boringly) a simple case of genetics passed down from daddy’s side. This fits her much better than normal headbands and stays put during some fairly lively play.

The foam element is also different to anything I’ve seen on the market. Although not listed as such, it actually acts as a neat little bump protector for adventurous tots. I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s a safety device but if your baby has as many tumbles as mine, it has softened the fall somewhat. It also means your handband won’t lose its shape and has a longer lifespan than others.

Pricewise they weigh in at slightly over high street alternatives putting them more squarely in the gift market. Having said that, you are supporting a local business and helping a very nice mummy get her dream business off the ground. They can also be personalised on request which is something truly unique in the handband market.

Without motif (e.g. cars, trains) £6.99 exc p&p
With motif (e.g. flowers, strawberries, ambulance) £8.99 exc p&p
With accessories (e.g. satin flowers) £9.99 exc p&p

They’re hand washable and cannot be tumble dried. To maintain shape, you’ll also want to leave them to dry flat on a flat surface. Due to their EVA foam filling, this takes a matter of minutes.

Little Bean Babywear also sell a handful of children’s outfits which are sensitively priced and perfectly compliment the range of headbands. If you buy an outfit, a discount will be offered on the headbands.

Okay the website needs a little TLC and you’ll find it a little clunky and hard to navigate, but this is typical of a tiny business getting started. However, don’t be put off should you want to buy as I’m thoroughly impressed with Heidi’s “impy” little headband. I hope you’ll agree that she looks utterly scrummy.
