Some people are in their element when they organise their child’s birthday party. Inspired by their child’s favourite soft toy or tv programme, their creativity knows no bounds. I’ve been to Mario parties where I might as well have walked through my tv screen. These mummy’s think of everything. Every square inch of their lounge or hired hall is decorated, all the food is themed, and the birthday boy or girl is trussed up in a homemade outfit that would make Kirstie Allsopp proud. Last year we had a glow in the dark skeleton which scared me to death when it fell off the wall, and in the dark all I could see was a glowing pool of ectoplasm on the floor..
