From Den to Bath - Cuddledry’s Brilliant Toddler Towels

I feel a little silly giving Cuddledry an introduction for this post. They’re a household name in the UK and most mums and dads will already have them hanging from their towel rails at home. Yet, just in case you’ve been living under a rock, here’s the lowdown on one of the nation’s favourite baby and toddler bath time brands.

Officially launched in October 2006, in less than a month Cuddledry were hastily signed up by baby store juggernauts, Mothercare. A matter of months later a very pregnant Polly and co-founder Helen, took a few tentative steps into Dragon’s Den and demo’ed their innovative apron-style baby towel to Peter Jones, Theo Paphitis, Deborah Meaden, James Caan and Duncan Bannatyne. Yet so assured of their brand’s future success, the Cuddledry girls were among the first businesses to actually turn down two offers of investment due to high equity demands.

Since then, the brand has received dozens of awards, including Mumsnet Best award for best newborn gift… 7 years in a row. Capitalising on the success of their baby towel, they’ve since expanded the range to include fun, practical and oh-so-cute towels for the discerning toddler.

We have two of these funky and colourful towels at home; the Cuddlesafari giraffe print for Heidi, and now the super cool Cuddleroar for Dexter. Not only do they look positively adorable hung on our towel rail, they also mean mummy and daddy don’t have to share their own expensive towels!

Dexter Cuddleroar

Size-wise they’re absolutely spot-on, covering both children from head-to-toe in soft and snuggly goodness. Made with bamboo and cotton (with clever microfiber technology) they’re are soft as a feather and so absorbent they dry my two in a matter of seconds. Not only this, they wash like a dream with zero shrinkage, bobbling or colour-loss. We bought Heidi’s towel 2 years ago from The Baby Show in London and it looks as good as it did back then.

Cuddledry front and back

Different from other toddler towels, the proportions and the cut of the towel is so that it encases your child in fabric. Fastening under the chin with a robust little popper, it’s markedly better than the usual cape-style towels which leave their tummies exposed. Instead there’s plenty of snuggly toweling at the front to keep the kiddies super warm when they get out of the bath, or indeed the pool on their Easter holidays!

Dex Cuddledry

The hood will prevent heat loss from little heads and end post-bath shivering. With every toddler towel boasting decorative details on the hood (from horns, to ears to antlers) they also make for plenty of bedtime posing. In fact, if your toddler dishes out regular bath-time tantrums and refuses to leave warm bubbly waters, this is the ultimate enticement to curb those paddies - You’ll find your little cherubs can’t wait to put them on… and won’t want to take them off!

Simply put, the Cuddledry is a revelation in baby bathing and well worth the investment. It’s a must-have for any new parent and among the most recommended baby products here in the UK.

Suitable for ages 3-6 years, the toddler towels are £29.99 from www.cuddledry.com or follow on Facebook and Twitter to be among the first to see new designs, competitions and more testimonials from happy mums and dads!

Countdown to The Baby Show (February 21-23 at London ExCel) and a Chance to Win Tickets!

Baby-Show-Excel-2014

Well if you didn’t know it already, I’m The Baby Show Blogger for 2014′s ExCel leg in February (21-23). I’ve been busy sharing my pregnancy journey on their blog and am hugely excited about the upcoming show.

We’ve been Baby Show regulars for the past few years now. I love seeing new products and brands before anyone else, and get enough of the special show prices. The facilities are always so amazing - Tommee Tippee never fail to create the perfect breastfeeding area away from the melee of the main exhibition, and who better than Fisher Price to kit out and sponsor the crèche area??? The result is a buzzing shopping environment that caters for busy mums and dads, whilst still providing everything you need to help deal with toddler meltdowns and newborn accidents. The changing area is always clean and tidy with staff on hand to dish out the nappies and wipes, and there’s always plenty of places to sit down, rest and take stock.

The Baby Show1

This year, I’ve got an extra special reason for attending. Aside from our blog partnership, we have a little girl growing all-too-quickly inside of me, and we’re incredibly unprepared! There are soooo many things we need, that I simply can not wait to hit the stalls!

Here are the brands I can’t wait to take a closer look at:

BabaBing!

I’m really looking forward to getting up close and personal with the sleek and minimalist LoBo Plum Bouncer and weighing up how the Noah highchair compares to the Stokke Tripp Trapp. I love the look and design of these products and am really excited at the prospect of having a good old play.

Bebecar

For traditional prams Bebecar are the Rolls Royce of baby wheels. I can’t get enough of their vintage style and simply need to test drive one!

As I’ve been helpfully informed that I’ll need a twin pushchair for my two babies (I have my Facebook readers to thank for this - it seems I had my head in the clouds and was over-estimating Dexter’s walking abilities). So I’ve been eying up the Peach Blossom 2 (in stylish and gender neutral Silver Mint) for awhile now. It’s the only twin I’ve seen that looks compact enough that I won’t be barging the elderly off the path and into oncoming traffic!

Masiel Bebe

Ooooh these dresses are too pretty for words. They’re exactly the traditional / nautical / Spanish twist I want to dress Mini Madam in. I’m seriously looking forward to going all gooey-eyed at them

Nappy Cakes by Betty

A humble little nappy cake business that deserves to be far bigger. Betty so lovingly makes these impressive nappy cakes and they look to be something incredibly special. She thinks of EVERYTHING - from an exhaustive list of ‘ingredients’ to leaflets on Strep B (an illness that I have firsthand experience of through Dexter). Can’t wait to see these pieces of art for myself!

Oyster Baby Slings - Slumber-Roo

Oooohhh let me at them!!! So gorgeous, so simple, and exactly the way I’m hoping to carry my little madam when she arrives in April.

OysterBaby

Of course, I’m also looking forward to seeing my friends BRITAX (and BOB), and Tommee Tippee, Cuddledry, Funky Giraffe Bibs and Pumpkin Patch. These are the brands I trust the most and never fail to disappoint me. This year (aside from those mentioned above) Chicco and Cheeky Rascals are also key sponsors so expect generously proportioned stalls for these guys and an abundance of products to browse, staff to advice you, and fabulous offers especially for the show.

BUMPER POST: The Baby Show ExCel London 22-24 Feb 2013 - Tips, Freebies and Product Spotlights

Whoa that post title is a whopper! But it’s a whopper with good reason.

The Mills trio are off to our second Baby Show this weekend as guest of a major mum & baby brand who are unveiling a brand new product. As I’m completely in-the-dark about this big reveal, they’ll be more from me on this after the show.

As this is our second Baby Show we’ve got the low-down on what to expect (read all about our first time here); hundreds of beautiful stalls with special show-prices, crying babies everywhere, new-to-the-market brands and products, great guest-speakers, and giveaway opportunities. Whether this is your first, second or umpteenth time at a Baby Show, it’s best to do a spot of homework before you leave to get the best out of your experience.

The good news..? I’ve done this for you!

I’ve trawled the exhibitor list and followed the brands on Twitter and Facebook looking for hints about their plans for the Baby Show, and special offers for their fans. I’ve interrogated their websites looking for innovative must-buy products to share with you. I’ve even found some freebies that will be on offer (first come, first serve) to tell you about.

SPECIAL BABY SHOW OFFERS & MUST-BUYS:

Most of the brands will be offering special Baby Show prices so this is hardly newsworthy. However, there are some real bargains to be had if you know where to look. Here are a few favourites…

PicMonkey Collagebs12

Cuddledry are offering 20% of all their apron and toddler towels which is great as Dexie has out-grown all his baby hoods. We’re hoping to bag him a snuggly Cuddleroar at the show (Stand F8).

The Veratemp Non-Contact Thermometer - We saw one of these at the Earls Court Baby Show and stupidly didn’t buy it. Since then we’ve struggled to find them in the shops. It’s genius - A non-contact thermometer you just point at baby and his / hers temperature comes up on a helpful colour changing display in seconds. For squirming babies - it’s one of those must-have gadgets. As some of the ear thermometers fetch up to £50, bagging this infinitely less than £40 has to be a good deal.

We’ve also discovered some really great new products whilst dissecting the exhibitor list. Here are some of the products we’ll be snapping up at discounted prices.

PicMonkey Collagebs2

The Pourty is one of those products that you don’t know you need until you see it. Although Dexter isn’t at this age yet, he’s not too far off. When he gets there, mummy will have one of these bad boys cued up for the occasion. What is it? A potty that allows you to pour its contents down the toilet thanks to a unique pouring duct and anti-drip lip.

Also on the to-buy list is this innovative Neckerchew from Cheeky Chompers. Such a simple idea but entirely new. As Dexter is teething there’s no controlling what he puts in his mouth - hopefully if his teether is around his neck he can’t lose it!

I’ll also be finally grabbing him a Gummee Glove (stand C1 PHP Gifts and Baby Stand) and giving this a whirl. I have a sinking feeling that he’ll use his free hand to pull off the glove but anything I can do to give him some relief from the pain - I’ll do.

FREEBIES & VOUCHERS:

The Baby Show themselves are pretty good at looking after you - you should get a goodie bag on entry with a little treat. But if it’s giveaways you’re after, you’ll have to quick to snap them up as most are first-come, first-serve.

MAM UK is giving away a 160ml self-sterilising, anti-colic bottle worth £5.75. You just need to visit this link, fill in your details, print out the voucher, and show it to a representative at stand H6.

Cheeky Rascals are also giving away a free Love to Swaddle UP blanket worth £19.99 to the first 10 people to their stand (H48) with a special voucher. Here’s the link.

Huddle & Bliss are offering £5 off every £30 to their Facebook fans. Go ahead and give them a like, then email to get sent your special voucher. They’ve tweeted today that they’ll be offering 5 Mix and Match babygrows for just £30 at the show so well worth a visit to their stand (G24).

Finally MabyLand are offering a free zip lock pouch to hold wet items and stop them leaking in your designer change bags. Just sign up to be a MabyLand VIP at stand B40 to claim.

COMPETITIONS

You’ll find plenty of competitions as you make your way around the show. If this is your thing, here are some tips on landing the big wins throughout the day.

The Baby Show themselves often offer a bumper selection of prizes if you collect stamps from selected vendors as you work your way around the show. Hand in your entry form at the end of the show and they’ll select a winner at the end of the weekend.

In between guest speakers, Fisher Price will also be giving away some of their much-loved toys on the main stage at 12 midday and 2.30pm. Get there nice and early to bag a seat and join in to win spot prizes.

Chicco are also celebrating their first-ever Baby Show appearance by giving away £250 worth of prizes twice a day. Pop over to them on stand P50 to fill in your entry card.

Finally, Maxi Cosi are offering Baby Show goers the opportunity to win the new Mura Plus Travel System. Just head to stand L2 to try out the Mura Plus then send them your one-tweet review for a chance to win (one each day).

Phew! That’s all I have for you right now. I hope you have a fabulous time if you’re going. To keep on top of any last-minute schedule changes or special offers, you can check-out the Baby Show’s floor plan, follow them on Twitter, or on give them a like on Facebook.
