An alcohol-free Saturday with Shloer

Posted on

I’ve already warned Craigy this post will ping on his iPhone this morning so he won’t crash his van in shock.

On Saturday, I started an “alcohol-free month”. Whilst Craig had a rare night out at the pub, I drank Shloer’s new Rhubarb and Strawberry Punch from a champagne flute. Craig came home a little worse for wear and I sat there smugly with a clear head and zero chance of a hangover.

Yep, this whole month I’ll be undergoing a health-kick in order to get my body baby-ready.

We’re not massive drinkers at all - I go out about twice a month and we don’t usually indulge on school nights - but Saturday’s at our house are movie nights and usually we’ll have a few glasses of wine and a takeaway. Give us a few hours and we usually morph into the drunk posh couple on GoogleBox. Given Craig was enjoying a night out with friend’s, it seemed the perfect time to kick-off the new regime.

So what did I make of Shloer’s new limited edition Rhubarb and Raspberry Punch?

The smell definitely points more towards raspberry, but the balance of both flavours was evident upon tasting it. It tasted like sherbet for grown-up’s without being too sweet or sacchrine. I thought it might become sickly the more you drink but managed to put the whole lot away with a few chocolates. There was no heavy sugary aftertaste at all.

The one thing I would say is that it needs to be really cold before serving and the fizz doesn’t last as long as some sparkling drinks. I can’t imagine you wouldn’t finish the bottle in one sitting though as it is free from nasty preservatives, so perfect for the littlest members of your household.

For more information and competitions, head on over to the website. If you’d like to try the limited edition flavour for yourself, you can bag yourself a bottle for just £2.29 from your local supermarket.

DISCLAIMER: I recieved a bottle of Shloer for the purposes of this review but all thoughts and words are my own.
